Heparin MAR hold

We recently had an incident report that highlighted a system issue that I wanted to bring to the discussion board.

We have a pharmacy run heparin protocol at our institution. With our recent epic implementation, our workflows include the pharmacist putting a MAR hold on heparin based on labs.. however, RNs dont get an acknowledgement or alert about the hold This has led to a heparin being run for additional ~1hr after the MAR hold was placed by the pharmacist, before it was discovered.

How do institutions handle MAR hold alerts?
