Protocols in EHR

During a recent regulatory accreditation survey, the surveyors wanted to see the protocol details within the medical record at the time the protocol initiation order is placed. We currently link the protocol to the order. Staff can click on it to view the protocol but it isn't face up in the EHR.

Wondering how other organizations have protocols integrated into the EHR. How have you accommodated longer protocols or ones with flow diagrams?
