I need some assistance. We are currently evaluating how we ensure safety of medications to our patients when our EHR is down.

Core question - How do nurses know that the order they have has been reviewed by the pharmacist and is safe to administer? If the ADC has the medication and it has been switched to cabinet dispense. What is the RN's trigger that all is well? The equivalent to the pharmacist verifying the order?

For those of you who have thought this through and developed a policy please share. We are needing to revise policies ASAP.
