          Locking programming on IV pumps

We recently had a situation where a patient adjusted the rate in the IV pump of a medication they were receiving. It is not standard practice to lock the programming of the IV pumps. Does anyone have standards on locking the programming of IV pumps or any guidance around that? Thanks.
